XOLO Q1010i launched for Rs 13,499; Lava Iris Pro 20 available for Rs 13,999 in India
Within a week of launching the Q2500 PocketPad tablet, XOLO has now launched a new smartphone in the Indian market. Christened Q1010i, the device is essentially the successor to the Q1010 smartphone launched earlier this year. While its predecessor is available for Rs 12,999, Q1010i has been priced slightly higher at Rs 13,499.
In addition, Lava has also further expanded its IRIS Pro series with the launch of a new smartphone called IRIS Pro 20. While its big brother IRIS Pro 30 was launched for Rs 15,499, the new entrant is available for as low as Rs 13,999. "With the great response that we received after the launch of Iris Pro 30, we are now launching another product in this series to address similar needs at a different price point," said Hari Om Rai, chairman and MD, Lava International Ltd.
Here is a look at the specifications of the devices.
The smartphone comes with a 5 inch HD IPS touchscreen display (1280x720 pixel resolution) with 294 ppi pixel density and runs on the Android 4.2 Jelly Bean operating system (upgradable to Android 4.4 KitKat). It is powered by a 1.3 MTK 6582 quad-core processor and has 1GB of RAM. The internal memory of the device is 8GB, which can be further expanded up to 32GB with a microSD card.
Q1010i comes with an 8 mega pixel autofocus rear camera (has Exmor R Sensor) with Flash that can also record full high definition videos (1080p) at 30 frames per second, as well as a 2MP front facing camera for video calling. Other camera features include scene detection & tuning, High Dynamic Range (HDR), face recognition (for focussing as well as in gallery), vertical & horizontal panorama capture, and Geo tagging, among others.
On the connectivity front, the device has Bluetooth 4.0, Wi-Fi, 3G, as well as a microUSB port and a microSD card slot. The company has provided a 2,250 mAh battery in the device that it claims will provide up to 9.7 hours of talk time and 685 hours of standby time. The dimensions of the device are 143.6 mm x 72.2 mm x 8.3 mm, and it comes with dual-SIM (GSM+CDMA) support and assisted GPS.
Lava IRIS Pro 20 for Rs 13,999
This one sports a slightly smaller 4.7 inch smartphone qHD IPS touchscreen display (960x540 pixel resolution) and runs on the Android 4.2.1 Jelly Bean operating system. It is powered by a 1.2 quad-core processor and has 1GB of RAM. The internal memory of the device is 4GB (2.43GB storage available to the user), which can be further expanded up to 32GB with a microSD card.
It also comes with an 8 mega pixel autofocus rear camera with dual LED Flash that can also record videos, as well as a front facing VGA camera for video calling. On the connectivity front, the device has Bluetooth 4.0, Wi-Fi, 3G, as well as a microUSB port and a microSD card slot. The company has provided a 2,000 mAh battery in the device that it claims will provide up to 4.5 hours of talk time and 400 hours of standby time.
The dimensions of the device are 138 mm x 67.5 mm x 7.7 mm, and its weight is 112 gm. It comes with dual-SIM support, GPS and FM radio. IRIS Pro 20 will be available in dark blue colour. The smartphone will also come pre-loaded with the entire suite of Google apps (like Google Talk, YouTube, Gmail, Google Play, Google Maps, and Google Chrome). Additional features include smart answering, direct calling, flip to mute, and a built-in call recorder.
Since both the smartphones are in the under Rs 14,000 range, apart from each other, they will compete with the likes of Samsung I8552 - Galaxy Grand Quattro (Rs 13,489), LG L70 Dual (Rs 13,775), Karbonn Titanium S7 (Rs 13,990), Micromax Canvas Magnus A117 (Rs 13,990), and Spice Pinnacle FHD Mi-525 (Rs 13,999), among others. But their biggest competitor will be Motorola's Moto G, which is available for Rs 12,499 and Rs 13,999 for its 8 and 16GB variants respectively.
