American Swan ropes in Maria Molland from Fab.com to its board of directors

Gurgaon-based American Swan, an online fashion store owned and operated by The American Swan Lifestyle Company Pvt Ltd, has appointed Maria Molland to the board of directors. In her new role, Molland will advise American Swan on international expansion, as it seeks to become a leading brand in emerging markets.

Molland recently served as the Chief European Officer at Fab.com, a US-based e-commerce company. Prior to Fab, she was the global managing director of digital ventures at Thomson Reuters where she managed teams in the US, Europe, India, China and the Middle East. In the past, she had held global executive roles at Dow Jones and Yahoo.

"There is a massive opportunity for American Swan vis-à-vis the increasing amount of capital going into emerging markets. I look forward to bringing my expertise to the brand and help it expand its impressive product range in global markets, as it enters the next stage of growth," Molland said.

American Swan offers a range of men's and women's apparel, accessories, footwear, beauty & fragrance and home products. The firm follows a hybrid model by operating online and offline channels.

In January last year, the company had raised Rs 40 crore ($6.6 million) from FourCross Media, a global digital media conglomerate with a network of innovative businesses. American Swan's merchandise is also available on other leading e-commerce sites, including Jabong, Myntra, Flipkart, Pepperfry, Yebhi and Home Shop18.
