Micromax launches Canvas XL for Rs 13,990; Lava's Iris Pro 30 smartphone available for Rs 15,499
Just yesterday, we had written about Micromax's low cost smartphone offering Bolt A66 that is available for Rs 6,000. The company has now added yet another mobile phone to its Canvas range of devices. The first phablet from Micromax, Canvas XL (hinting the large size) A119 sports a 6-inch display and has been priced at Rs 13,990 by the company. In addition, Lava has also launched a new smartphone called Iris Pro 30, which is available for Rs 15,499. Here is a look at the specifications of the devices.
The phablet sports a 6-inch qHD TFT touchscreen display (960×540 pixels resolution) and runs on the Android 4.2 operating system. It is powered by a 1.3GHz quad-core processor and has 1GB of RAM. The internal memory of the device is 4GB that can be further expanded an additional 32GB with a microSD card.
Canvas XL has an 8 megapixel rear camera that can also record videos and a 5MP front facing camera for video calling. On the connectivity front, it has Bluetooth, Wi-Fi, 3G and a microSD card slot. The dimensions of the device are 165mm x 84.2mm x 10.4mm and its weight is 180 grams. The company has provided a 2,450 mAh battery in the phablet, which it claims will provide up to 9.5 hours of talk time and 209 hours of stand by time.
The device will primarily compete with the likes of Samsung Galaxy Mega with 5.8 inch display (Rs 23,400), Panasonic P51 with 5 inch display (Rs 22,390), Lenovo K900 with 5.5 inch display (Rs 23,999), XOLO Q3000 with 5.7 inch display (Rs 20,999), Gionee Elife E6 with 5 inch display (Rs 21,300), and the recently unveiled Sony Xperia T2 Ultra. However, in comparison, Micromax's offering is available for much cheaper.
This one has a 4.7 inch IPS HD touchscreen display (1280x720 pixels resolution) and runs on the Android 4.2.1 operating system. It is powered by a 1.2GHz quad-core processor and has 1GB of RAM. The internal memory of this device is also 4GB and can be further expanded an additional 32GB with a microSD card. Iris Pro 30 also has an 8 megapixel rear camera with dual LED flash that can also record videos and a 3MP front facing camera for video calling.
On the connectivity front, it has Bluetooth, Wi-Fi, 3G and a microSD card slot. The dimensions of the device are 138mm x 66.7mm x 7.5mm and its weight is 114 grams. The company has provided a 2,000 mAh battery in the smartphone, which it claims will provide up to 7 hours of talk time and 400 hours of stand by time. It also comes with dual-SIM capability (GSM+GSM), FM radio, and will be available in black colour.
In addition to the soon to be launched Moto G smartphone, Iris Pro 30 will compete with devices like Lenovo K860 (Rs 15,599), iBall Andi 4.7G Cobalt (Rs 15,499), Nokia Lumia 720 (Rs 15,799), and Karbonn Titanium S7 (Rs 14,999), among others.
