iBall adds another low-priced tablet to its offerings, launches Slide 3G 7271 HD7 for Rs 8,399
Last month, homegrown hardware manufacturer iBall had launched a mid-priced tablet called Slide 3G Q1035. The company has now added yet another member to its Slide 3G family of tablets. The new device, called Slide 3G 7271 HD7, runs on the Android Jelly Bean operating system, and has been targeted at the low-priced tablet segment. While the company has priced it at Rs 8,999, it is available on a number of e-commerce stores for as low as Rs 8,399.
Unlike its predecessor 3G Q1035, which had a 10 inch display, this one sports a 7-inch capacitive touchscreen display (1024x600 pixels resolution). And while this is an improvement from the 7-inch WVGA display (480×800 pixel resolution) of the original Slide 3G 7271 tablet, it is not actually a high definition display as the company is implying in the name (notice the HD7 at the end) of the new tablet. It is powered by a 1.3 GHz dual-core Cortex A7 processor and runs on the Android 4.2 Jelly Bean operating system.
It has 512MB of RAM and 4GB of internal memory (approximately 2GB of built in storage is used by OS and application files), which can be further expanded up to 32 GB with a microSD card. Slide 3G 7271 HD7 has a 2 mega pixel rear camera with LED flash and a VGA front-facing camera for video calling. On the connectivity front, the device has Wi-Fi, Bluetooth and 3G (as the name already suggests), and it also has a microUSB port and a microSD card slot.
The exact dimensions of the tablet are not available as of now, but the tablet is powered by a 3,000 mAh battery. It will be available in black and white colours, and comes with wireless FM radio. In addition, the device is capable of high definition (HD) video playback, has GPS (with A-GPS support) and comes with dual-SIM (with dual standby) support.
"Based on the feedback and changing needs of our users, we have launched an upgraded version of our popular 3G7271 tablet. It comes with almost 8 new differentiators to thrill the users," said iBall's Sandeep Parasrampuria.
In the under Rs 10,000 price range, the tablet will compete with the likes of Karbonn Smart A37 (Rs 7,999), Simmtronics Xpad Turbo Tablet (Rs 7,999), Zync Z999 Plus (Rs 8,990), and HCL MeEdu Tab X1 (Rs 9,999). But the best buy in this range (according to us) is Google's Nexus 7 2012 tablet, which is available for Rs 9,999 (for the 16GB version).
