Intex Technologies, an Indian mobile, IT and consumer electronics company has launched its first mobile phone that is powered by an Octa-core processor. According to the company, it is the fastest 6 inch Android smartphone to be launched by any company till date. Christened Intex Aqua Octa, the device is available for purchase for Rs 19,999.
In November last year, the company had announced its partnership with MediaTek Inc., a Taiwanese fabless semiconductor company for wireless communications and digital multimedia solutions, for bringing octa-core powered devices in the country. The phablet could be the first in a line of upcoming smartphone and tablet launches by Intex. Here is a look at the specifications of the device.
The phablet features a 6 inch IPS HD touchscreen display (720x1280 pixels resolution) and is powered by a 1.7 GHz MT6592 Octa-core processor. The device runs on the Android 4.2.2 Jelly Bean operating system and comes with 2 GB RAM. The internal memory of the device is 16 GB (actual available internal phone storage may differ), which can be further expanded up to 32 GB with a microSD card.
On the camera front, this one sports a 13 mega pixel autofocus rear camera with Flash that can also record videos and a 5 MP front-facing camera for video calling. In terms of connectivity, the device has Wi-Fi, Bluetooth and 3G, as well as a microSD card slot and a microUSB port.

Aqua Octa also has GPS (with A-GPS support), dual-SIM (GSM+WCDMA) capability, and a FM radio. It will be available in white and black colours.
Interestingly, apart from a number of pre-loaded apps like Intex Cloud, Matrabhasha, and NQ Vault etc., the company has also provided an 'auto-call record' feature in the phablet. "With the True Octa Core processor, Intex achieves another industry first by bringing the fastest 6-inch Android smartphone ever," said Sanjay Kalirona, head- mobile business at Intex.
Started in the year 1996, the company's flagship brand 'Intex' covers seven business segments which are IT accessories, mobile phones & accessories, consumer electronics, security surveillance, retail, power electronics and enterprise solutions. Last year, it had also forayed into newer segments such as tablets, with the launch of the Intex i-Tab For Rs 11,900.
In the under Rs 25,000 price range and the 5 inch & above screen size, the device will compete with the likes of Samsung Galaxy Mega with 5.8 inch display (Rs 23,400), Panasonic P51 with 5 inch display (Rs 22,390), Lenovo K900 with 5.5 inch display (Rs 23,999), and Gionee Elife E6 with 5 inch display (Rs 21,300), among others.
