Nissan to sell cars online in India

Loading...

Japanese car maker Nissan will soon allow people to buy cars online. The company will launch an e-commerce platform where customers will be able to book cars by making payments using credit cards. The product will then be delivered at their doorstep by the nearest Nissan dealer. Once implemented, Nissan will be the first car company to introduce an e-commerce platform for car sales in India. The development was first reported by PTI news agency.

According to the company, the service aims to simplify the purchase cycle by making the entire sales journey quicker and more efficient. "Today most car buyers go online before making a decision; so using the internet is a logical extension of the purchase cycle," said Nitish Tipnis, director (marketing) at Hover Automotive India, the national sales company of Nissan.

With each purchase, the company will offer attractive deals in order to woo more customers to the platform.

This is not the first time a multi-national major has introduced an e-commerce platform in India. A few months ago, beverages major Coca-Cola launched Coke2Home.com, an online store for home delivery of the group's various products. Early this year, the country's top FMCG firm Hindustan Unilever said it was looking at building capabilities for e-commerce as a stronger distribution channel.
