BSNL & Pantel launch under Rs 10,000 smartphones, phablet & tablets in India
State-owned telecom firm Bharat Sanchar Nigam Ltd (BSNL) and Noida-based hardware company Pantel Technologies Pvt Ltd have together launched a number of low-priced products in the Indian market. Priced under Rs 10,000, the new products include a 'Bharat Phone', a smartphone, a phablet, and a tablet. All of them come bundled with internet and voice plans from BSNL. Here is a look at the specifications of the devices.
PentaBharat Phone PF300 for Rs 1,799
The cheapest offering from Pantel, this one is a JAVA enabled feature phone that sports a 3 inch display. The device comes with Dual SIM functionaity and enables internet browsing facilities like email, Facebook, and downloading of music & videos. It also sports a 1.3 mega pixel rear camera, Bluetooth and Stereo FM & recording.
PF 300 has 64MB of RAM, the same amount of internal storage and comes with a 1,800mAh battery that the company claims will provide up to 8 hours of talk time and 15 days of standby time. It also comes pre-bundled with 1,200 minutes (100 minutes every month for 12 months) of talk time on the BSNL network. According to BSNL, it has been especially designed for E-Governance applications for the common man.
Penta Smart PS501 for Rs 6,999
The first 5 inch IPS display device under Rs 7,000 (at least that is what the company claims), the smartphone offers 3D Photo Viewing and 3D Video Playback. It is powered by a 1.2GHz A7 Dual-Core CPU, has 512MB of RAM and 4GB of internal storage. In addition, the company is also providing 15GB of Cloud storage with the device.
The device has a 5MP panoramic rear camera and a front facing VGA camera for video calling. It comes bundled with the Penta App suite of applications, has FM Radio with recording, GPS and Bluetooth. Users will also get 3GB of 3G Data and 300 mins of talk time free on the BSNL network.
PentaSmart PS650 for Rs 7,999
The PentaSmart PS650 is a 3G phablet that sports a large 6.5 inch screen, and is powered by a 1.2GHz A7 Dual-Core CPU with MALI 400MP GPU for graphics. The device comes with 512MB of RAM and 4GB of internal storage. It runs on the Android 4.2.2 Jelly Bean operating system and on the connectivity front, it has Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, an 3G. It comes with a 2MP autofocus panoramic rear camera (with HDR Recording and image stabiliser), and a 2,500 mAh battery that the company claims will provide around 4 days of stand by time.
Penta T-Pad WS707C for Rs 6,999
A 7 inch tablet, Penta T-Pad WS707C also runs on the Android 4.2.2 operating system. It is powered by a dual-core processor with an independent graphics controller that allows users to get a full 3D experience, enabled by the 3D display screen. This one has 512 MB of RAM, 4GB of internal storage, and offers multiple user-environment on a single tablet- allowing each user to set his/her own screen interface and personalised applications.
Similar to the Penta Smart PS501, both PentaSmart PS650 and Penta T-Pad WS707C will also offer 3GB of 3G Data and 300 mins of talk time free on the BSNL network. In addition, all the Penta smart devices also come pre-loaded with an anti-malware suite from mobile security provider TrustPort.
Pantel Technologies sells ICT products (includes tablets, smartphones and feature phones) under the brand name of Penta across 5 continents. This is not the first time the company has partnered with BSNL. In Feb last year, it had launched three tablets T-Pad IS701R (for Rs 3,499), T-Pad WS704C (Rs 10,999), and T-Pad WS802C (Rs 13,500), in association with BSNL.
