Samsung launches new Galaxy Note 10.1 for Rs 49,990; gets the pricing wrong
After unveiling the same last month, Samsung has now launched its new Galaxy Note 10.1 tablet (2014 edition) in the Indian market. The device runs on the Android operating system, and the company has also added an Octa-processor to the device. Samsung has priced the tablet at Rs 49,990. Here is a look at the specifications of the devices.
Like the name states, the tablet sports a 10.1 inch Super clear LCD WQXGA touchscreen display (2560×1600 pixel resolution) and runs on the Android 4.3 Jelly Bean operating system. The 3G version of the device is powered by a 1.9 GHz Octa-core processor, while the 4G LTE version is powered by a 2.3 GHz Quad-core processor. This one has 3GB of RAM, and comes with 16GB of internal memory, which can be further expanded up to an additional 64GB with a microSD card.
Note 10.1 comes with an 8 megapixel auto-focus rear camera (with BSI Sensor) with LED Flash that can record full HD videos at 60 frames per second, and a 2 MP front facing camera for video calling. On the connectivity front, the device has Bluetooth 4.0, Wi-Fi (with Wi-Fi Direct), 3G and 4G LTE (depending on the region), and it also comes with a microSD card slot and a microUSB port.
The dimensions of the device are 243.1mm x 171.4mm x 7.9mm, and its weight is 535gm. The company has provided an 8,220 mAh battery in the device. It has GPS, and will be available in jet black and classic white colours. While the tablet has decent specifications, we feel that the company has over priced the device.
In the same price range, you can get your hands on the fourth generation of Apple's 64GB iPad with Retina Display and Wi-Fi + Cellular, which is available for Rs 50,490. Other tablets in the under Rs 50,000 range include 16GB Sony Xperia Z Tablet with Wi-Fi + 3G (Rs 41,499), 32 GB Asus PadFone Tablet with Wi-Fi + 3G (Rs 44,499).
