Cadbury India's Bhaskar Choudhuri joins Lenovo as marketing head for India
Lenovo India has announced the appointment of Bhaskar Choudhuri as head of marketing for the country. Based out of the company's headquarters in Bangalore, Choudhuri will spearhead the role across three key segments—consumer, relationship (enterprise) and SMB. He will also devise strategies for increasing Lenovo's affinity with generation X consumers.
"The shift from a leading FMCG to an established technology brand is quite thrilling. Despite the fact that both segments are diverse, leveraging the youth connect remains a common factor," said Choudhuri.
He joins Lenovo with over 13 years of experience in sales and marketing, primarily in the FMCG space. Prior to joining Lenovo, he was the associate vice president, marketing at Cadbury India (for the candy and gum category). An IIM Bangalore alumnus, Choudhuri had been with the company since 2004 and played a significant role in managing the Cadbury Dairy Milk (CDM) portfolio as well as launches of products like 'CDM Silk' and 'CDM Shots'.
Amar Babu, managing director, Lenovo India, said, "Choudhuri has played a significant role in managing one of India's leading FMCG brands and we welcome him on board. This development is in line with our growth strategy, as we are moving towards the PC+ era and increasing our focus on the youth segment."
Last week, Lenovo, along with HP, joined a long list of offline players which have opened own e-commerce stores in India. For the same, Lenovo had partnered with Net Distribution Services Ltd (NDSL). Lenovo's portal is called thedostore.com (on the lines of the company's tagline 'for those who do') and offers a broad range of Lenovo products like smartphones, laptops, desktops, tablets, as well as accessories.
