Basab Pradhan joins Cloud computing startup CliQr as president & CEO

Basab Pradhan, former head of global sales and marketing at Infosys Technologoes, has joined a US based cloud computing startup CliQr as president and CEO. Headquartered in Sunnyvale, California, CliQr Technologies is backed by Foundation Capital and Google Ventures.

"I am very excited about the opportunity to lead a company that is at the cusp of something really big and important in enterprise technology," Pradhan said in a blog post.

Pradhan will assume the position formerly held by CliQr's co-founder Gaurav Manglik who will assume the role of chief strategy officer.

Pradhan wrote in his blog: "This was my second stint at Infosys where I spent, in all, 13 terrific years helping to build a global IT services company. During my second stint, we spent a lot of time thinking about the impact of the cloud on our clients' businesses.

Our conclusions were that the impact of the cloud on enterprise IT would be disruptive, transformative and massive. Amidst this Journey to the Cloud lay great opportunity—for our clients as well as for us as a service provider. For the IT services industry, the transformation of IT infrastructure, driven primarily by the cloud, was the mega-opportunity of the decade."

Pradhan had quit Infosys last month soon after Narayana Murthy came back to the tech giant in an executive role. Pradhan had rejoined Infosys in 2011 after his own startup Gridstone Research, backed by Helion Ventures, shut shop in 2010. Pradhan was serving as head of global sales of Infosys when he first quit the tech company in 2005 .
