In March this year, Sony Music partnered with the new (at that time) range of Sony Xperia phones (Z, ZL and E series) to roll out Sony Music Jive, a music service for downloading and streaming music. The service is free for the first six months, and you can subscribe to it after that period. Last November, Sony Music Entertainment India signed a multi-crore digital service agreement with Ahmedabad-based e-commerce firm Infibeam.com for Indent (stands for Infibeam Digital Entertainment), a new platform focused on offering technology solutions to music labels, brands and smartphone-makers.
Earlier this month, Avinash Mudaliar, head and also part of the founding team of Gaana.com, the music streaming service from the stable of Times Internet Ltd (the digital arm of the Times of India group), left the company and joined Saregama as its head of internet products and services. Post his exit, TIL appointed Pawan Agarwal as the business head of Gaana.com.
