Excl: Mobile app which gets you reward points for watching TV ads Zapr secures funding
Gurgaon-based tech startup Red Brick Lane Marketing Solutions Pvt Ltd, which launched Zapr, a mobile app which allows users to get reward points for watching TV commercials, has raised an undisclosed funding from former Indiagames COO Samir Bangara among others, sources privy to the development told Techcircle.in. GSF Accelerator, a part of the Global Super Angel Forum, had last year shortlisted Red Brick Lane among five startups as its inaugural batch. For more details on other investors click here.
When contacted, Red Brick Lane co-founder Deepak Baid said, "We are closing this investment round; so we can't really talk about it right now."
Founded in February last year by Baid, along with Sandipan Mondal and Sajo Mathews, Red Brick Lane designs and develops technology-based consumer products. Baid holds a bachelor's degree in Biotechnology from IIT Madras and an MBA from IIM Ahmedabad. His partner Mathews is a B Tech in Naval Architecture from IIT Kharagpur and an MBA from IIM Ahmedabad. Their partner, Mondal holds a bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute, New York, and an MBA from IIM Ahmedabad.
Red Brick Lane's product Zapr is a mobile app that aims to monetise by making TV ad viewing interactive. The viewers get reward points for checking in the ads they are watching.
Users need to tap the 'ZAP' button once the ad-break starts on TV and then sit back and let the phone listen to your TV and identify which ads are being watched (or at least switched on). Users get rewards with vouchers from e-com firms and multiplex chains.
