eBay unveils eBay Feed, enables users to customise homepage
Online auction and shopping marketplace eBay India has unveiled eBay Feed which will enable users to customise eBay homepage with the look and feel of a social network page.
The Feed enables users to create/customise their own homepage on eBay, based on trends and brands and their interests. As part of the homepage, a user gets to see a range of products in categories in which he or she has shown interest. It can also be shared on social platforms and can be edited. According to a company statement, the Feed saves user's time as it showcases each user's unique requirements on one customised homepage.
"The eBay Feed reflects the new eBay and our evolution as a marketplace that connects the world to the things consumers need and love—anytime, anywhere. The eBay Feed makes moments of inspiration instantly shoppable," said Deepa Thomas, e-commerce evangelist, eBay India.
It seems e-commerce companies are going all out to woo customers. Only recently, Myntra came out with a revised product exchange offer for all its shoppers. It means a buyer will be able to exchange an item for another size, without having to return the product first and then reorder it.
Prior to that, Snapdeal launched a new feature called Trustpay, which guarantees full cash back if the vendor concerned falters in its commitments.
These developments reflect the competition in the space. The recent e-commerce buzz in India includes launch of Amazon's marketplace in India and most recently, eBay participated in Series D funding round of Jasper Infotech Pvt Ltd, which runs online marketplace Snapdeal. It closed the funding round worth $50 million (Rs 284 crore).
