Sify elevates CR Rao as chief operating officer
NASDAQ-listed internet and IT firm Sify Technologies Ltd has elevated CR Rao as the company's chief operating officer. Till now, he has been working as the company's vice-president – strategy, admin and HR. In his new role, he will be responsible for operations and delivery across Sify's multiple businesses.
"Sify is now in its third phase of growth and is emerging as a strong player in the IT solutions and services industry, with a strong focus on cloud-based services. Rao will play a crucial role in ensuring operational excellence during this defining period," said Sify Technologies' chairman Raju Vegesna.
Rao joined Sify back in 2009. He has around 21 years of industry experience and his previous assignments were with Delta Tubes Pvt Ltd and Bobba Aviation Services, part of GSA Lufthansa Cargo. Rao holds degrees in Law and Commerce.
Chennai-based Sify was set up in 1995. In 1999, it became the first Indian ICT company to be listed on NASDAQ. It reported Rs 231.4 crore in revenues for the fourth quarter ended March 31, 2013, up 27.1 per cent over the year-ago period. The growth in top line was led by its key enterprise business, which grew 28.2 per cent to Rs 214.2 crore during this period. Its software unit clocked 15.4 per cent growth to generate revenues of Rs 17.2 crore.
