Technology startups have a huge opportunity to leverage the Aadhaar system: Srikanth Nadhamuni, CEO, Khosla Labs
At the Techcircle's DEMO India event, we caught up with Srikanth Nadhamuni, CEO of Khosla Labs (a Bangalore-based startup incubator), and the brain behind the technology at Unique Identification Authority of India (UIDAI) to get a better idea of how the Aadhar project has opened up immense opportunities for technology startups in the country. In this video, Nadhamuni talks about the journey of building Aadhaar- from the challenges in building a platform that could facilitate such a colossal endeavour, to currently doing 300 trillion biometric matches a day for issuing a million Aadhaar cards daily.
He further explains that the Aadhaar system was deliberately built as an identity platform as opposed to an end user application, so that government departments and private companies/startups could build their own apps leveraging the platform. Watch the video for more.
