Mahindra's new electric car comes with smartphone app for remote battery charging and more
Mahindra & Mahindra unveiled its latest electric car christened e20 on Monday. What caught our attention, however, was that it boasts of a cool new smartphone app to support it too. Available on iOS, Blackberry and Android, the app lets the owner have almost absolute control over the vehicle.
The app lets the users control the charging of the vehicle, remotely lock/unlock the car, locate charging stations via GPS, get battery status of the vehicle and more. Also, it takes the interactivity to another level by letting users compare the car's efficiency with fuel cars (a feature which might be a hit with 'mileage-crazy' Indian customers). It also enables the users to get information on battery usage and frequency of charging. The app lets the user be connected with the car from anywhere in the world. One can even request roadside assistance. And you can even pre-cool/pre-heat the cabin of the car from your smartphone. There is a real-time GPS trip tracker too (know more about it here.
The Mahindra e20 is a tech-savvy car in itself too. Each vehicle has an inbuilt GSM activated chip that allows the company to keep a check on performance and condition of each car. This also helps in remote troubleshooting in case of software related problems or upgrades.
This new gizmo-car comes at a price of Rs 5.96 lakh and is second after the earlier launched 2-seater electric car, Reva.
