Via.com promotes V Swaminathan as CEO, Vinay Gupta is now chairman
Online travel agency Via.com, run by Flightraja Travels Pvt Ltd, has promoted its COO V Swaminathan as CEO. Former CEO Vinay Gupta, who is the founder of the online company, will now be the chairman of OTA.
This senior management shuffle was first reported by Medianama.
The Indo US Venture Partners and Sequoia Capital backed internet firm began as an offline B2B travel firm in 2007. It now functions as a travel deals aggregator and ticket booking site. It was founded by Gupta and Amit Aggarwal, the CTO of the company. Its inventory includes ticketing in flights, hotels, holiday packages, car and recently added bus services. Via.com had raised $5 million from Indo US Venture Partners in 2007 and followed it up with a $10 million round from Sequoia Capital in December 2009.
Via.com has been growing inorganically for the past couple of years. It first acquired Jalandhar-based TSC Travel Services Pvt Ltd for an undisclosed amount in November 2011. It followed it up with acquisition of Bangalore-based healthcare products e-tailer LifeMojo in January 2012. Earlier this year, Via.com acquired online travel package booking site Travelmasti.com for an undisclosed amount.
