One97 ropes in Indiatimes exec Sandeep Amar as VP, mobile marketing
Mobile internet firm One97 Communications has appointed Sandeep Amar as vice-president, mobile marketing. Vijay Shekhar Sharma, founder of One97 Communications, confirmed the appointment to Techcircle.in, adding that Amar will look after the marketing of various mobile internet products of the company. Prior to this appointment, Amar was working at Indiatimes as head of marketing. He had joined the Times Group's internet division back in 2007 and headed the marketing at Times Business Solutions, besides leading the marketing divisions of Simplymarry.com and Ads2book.com. In 2009, Amar was made head of marketing and audience at Indiatimes. His work experience also includes stints with Zee Telefilms, Citigroup, and Hindustan Times.
Amar and Upen Rai (director – sales – at Indiatimes) had put in their papers last month. At that time, the news was shared by Indiatimes' CEO Satyan Gajwani who had taken over from Rishi Khiani. The IndiaDigitalReview report also mentions that Rai has now joined Khiani for the latter's entrepreneurial venture. However, details of the venture and Rai's role in it are still unclear.
Rai, who joined Indiatimes in 2001, was with Zoom as COO during 2004-2006. He had also worked with Buena Vista TV, a Walt Disney company, and Zee TV.
