LinkedIn redesigns company pages, adds notification flag, envelope icon to homepage

Professional networking site LinkedIn has redesigned its 'Company Pages'. With the redesigned pages, companies will now be able to add an image (that best represents their company and brand) to their LinkedIn page to better establish their identity on LinkedIn (see pic below).
Companies can now share status updates and job opportunities directly from the update stream and they can also showcase their products, services and insights to members visiting their page.
A few companies that are getting early access to the redesigned Company Pages include Philips, Citi, HP and Dell. LinkedIn is also offering select companies (like American Express, Unilever and Expedia) a more visual way (complete with pictures, videos etc.) to showcase their employer brand through the 'Career Pages' section of Company Pages.

"We believe this new look and feel makes it easier for companies to tell their employer story and make the job hunt process more personalised for job seekers," wrote Mike Grishaver, leader of product management and monetization, Company Pages at LinkedIn, in an official blog post.
In addition to redesigning its Company Pages, LinkedIn has also launched a new notifications feature, which will keep members notified real-time when someone likes what they have shared on LinkedIn, views their profile or accepts their invitation, among other things.
For this purpose, the company has added a notification 'flag' at the top of the member's homepage along with a new inbox 'envelope' icon (see pic below).

The Company Pages and Notifications features have also been made available to LinkedIn's iPhone, Android and iPad apps (read here for more).
