Two Indiatimes executives put in their papers; Internal reshuffle follows
Upen Rai, director-sales, Indiatimes and Sandeep Amar, head of marketing at Indiatimes have put in their papers. The news was shared by Indiatimes' CEO, Satyan Gajwani, who recently took over from Rishi Khiani, through an internal e-mail in the organisation. The news was first reported by Medianama.
Upen Rai, who joined Indiatimes in 2001, was with Zoom as COO between 2004-06. He has also worked with Buena Vista TV, a Walt Disney company, and Zee TV.
Sandeep Amar who joined The Times Group's internet division in 2007, headed marketing at Times Business Solutions and led marketing divisions of Simplymarry.com and Ads2book.com. In 2009, he was made the head of marketing and audience at Indiatimes. Previously he has also worked with Zee Telefilms, Citigroup, and Hindustan Times.
Gajwani's mail also mentioned referred to some internal reshuffling. Avinash Mudaliar will now look after Gaana.com, while Rajat Dev will be responsible for the horizontal design function, and Harshavardhan T will be responsible for running Indiatimes.com, in addition to working on Indiatimes' IPL startegy. Both Harshavardhan and Dev will report to Gautam Sinha, the newly appointed COO of Indiatimes.
The restructuring of the company is in line with its strategy of making it function more like a startup, with each product division being taken care of by a business head, according to the mail.
