Tata DoCoMo, Snapdeal Join Hands For Location-based Deals
Tata DoCoMo, the unified telecom brand of Tata Teleservices Ltd, has inked a deal with Snapdeal to launch Deal Zone. The limited-period partnership will allow Tata DoCoMo GSM subscribers to get SMS alerts on a range of products and services such as restaurants, spas, electronic goods, fashion accessories, personal care products and a lot more. They can also avail discounts up to 15 per cent for services like restaurants, spas and entertainment, and up to 2 per cent on product categories like mobiles, fashion and electronics.
Ramakrishna S, COO of Tata Teleservices Andhra Pradesh Circle, said, "The 'Deals Near Me' option will allow our customers to know all about the offers available in their particular locations."
Deal Zone is an auto-renewal service and subscribers will be charged Rs 1 per day. However, they have the option to unsubscribe if they wish to do so.
Kunal Bahl, CEO of Snapdeal, said, "India currently has more than 850 million mobile subscribers, as compared to 110 million people who can access the Internet. Through this partnership, we will be able to reach a wider audience and enable DoCoMo users to browse location-based deals and order for products through Snapdeal and via mobile."
Last December, Tata DoCoMo collaborated with CanvasM Technologies, Tech Mahindra's VAS subsidiary for the 'Saral Rozgar' service. CanvasM had launched the service in June 2011, in partnership with the NGO Rashtriya Rozgar Mission. It is targeted at providing utility-based services to the bottom-of-the-pyramid or the blue-collar job segment. Using this service, blue-collar job seekers (such as drivers, maids, plumbers, electricians, etc.) can create his/her resume and then apply for jobs through their mobile handsets.
