DataWind Tablets To Come Preloaded With GetJar's Free To Download But Ad-supported Apps

DataWind has entered into a partnership with GetJar, (a free app store with over 2 billion downloads), to pre-install the GetJar app store on all Datawind Tablets. The deal will enable all DataWind customers to download GetJar apps for free.

GetJar's app store offers customers access to over 350,000 free applications. It has an ad-supported model where developers pay for placement of their applications while keeping it free for consumers.

This comes right after DataWind's announcement of the  launch of upgraded version of the much touted low cost Ubislate Tablets on April 26, around three months behind schedule.

Suneet Singh Tuli, CEO, DataWind said, "GetJar is an established partner with a very large selection of free applications that users can download onto their UbiSlate or Aakash Tablets. We're excited by the added value this brings to our end users."

Datawind had started taking paid bookings for its Tablets from last week of January and those customers will be on priority delivery list as the company cannot immediately meet the demand of all the pre-orders

GetJar Gold is a loyalty program that rewards users with free apps and virtual goods. The company distributes more than 350,000 mobile applications for Android from over 395,000 registered developers.
