Eros Goes Online With Entertainment Content Under Beta Version Of Eros Now

Film studio Eros International Media Pvt Ltd has announced the launch of beta version of an online entertainment service called Eros Now. Eros Now will provide access to the company's film library of Bollywood movies, music videos, audio tracks and original programming. Eros Now will offer to the viewers Hindi as well as regional movies (including Tamil, Kannada and Marathi titles).

This comes as an extension of its first move last year where Eros digitised its film library comprising 2,000 films.

The site is not fully operational at present and it says coming soon, so we will update you with more details on the content distribution strategy once we get more clarity. However, from what we can gather for now, there will be free content as well as a premium and standard service which will be offered through subscription.

Earlier, we saw Eros bringing affordable in-flight entertainment for the flyers in the low-cost carriers.

With the latest move it will be taking on other players in the business both international and local.

Online streaming of films has been seeing a lot of popularity and other major players in film streaming space apart from YouTube and Yahoo! is Bigflix, which quit its DVD rental business and begun online streaming last year. Recently, Bigflix also tied up with Unisys Infoslutions- VAS content and enterprise messaging solutions firm-  to stream over 200 films online.

For music, though, there are various other players like Gaana.com, the music streaming site from the IndiaTimes stable, Saavn, The US-based Indian music start-up, Dhingana.com, a social music streaming service.
