LinkedIn Acquires Rapportive
Gmail contact information pluggin Rapportive has been officially bought by LinkedIn. The announcement was made on the official blog of Rapportive.
"During our partnership with Linkedin, we got to know them very well. We found a great overlap between our visions. We found a high-calibre and extremely driven team. We found, crucially, a "members-first" company: everything that LinkedIn does is about making its members more successful," says the blog post, which is by Rahul Vohra, CEO, Rapportive.
Rapportive is a plugin which enables users to get more detailed information about people who have emailed them. That includes social connections such as LinkedIn, Facebook and Twitter, as well as their address books. It was started by Rahul Vohra and Martin Kleppman around two years back. There were rumours of its acquisition few weeks back and the blog post confirmed it. Though there are no specifics available on the deal, market rumours suggest that the deal was for 15$ Mn cash.
In Rapportive's blog, Vohra stated that the company will continue to support Rapportive with the help of Linkedin.
