Agri Company Taps GPS-enabled Devices For Real Time Info To Connect Farmers

Krishidhan Seeds, an agricultural research driven company, has given out 3G-enabled android 2.3 Tablets to its marketing & sales team to help cater  farmers and agriculture fraternity.

The basic aim of using GPS-enabled Tablets is to provide real time and instant solutions and information on the availability, supply status dispatch details and also provide instant information on urgent stock requirements to the retailers.

Sushil Karwa, MD, Krishidhan Seeds said, "This is first time in India that any agro-based company has gone to such a length in streamlining the usually unorganised sector. We have ensured that the company invests in manpower to provide them with the tools that would help sustainable production. These Tablets will enable our marketing and sales team to engage with the farmers across all our key markets in 18 states."

Krishidhan Seeds was founded in 1980 and has international presence with office at Enkhuizen, Holland. The group operates in an integrated seed business and is involved in research, production, processing, packing, and marketing of seeds of cotton, cereals, pulses, oil seeds and vegetables.

This is however, not the first such initiative, mobile operators as well as few handset makers, all already providing real time information to farmers through various app and other services, even for basic handsets.
