Affle Ropes In Rahul Roushan Of Faking News As Head, Content Services
Affle, a Singapore-headquartered mobile media start-up, has appointed Rahul Roushan as head, content services. Roushan, a former journalist known by the pseudonym 'PagalPatrakar', previously ran the news satire website Faking News.
Working out of Gurgaon, Roushan will take up the responsibility of leading initiatives for specialised content offerings. In addition, he will play a key role in driving the advertiser campaign solutioning business at Affle and focus on launching more differentiated, branded content initiatives.
An alumnus of IIM Ahmedabad and IIMC New Delhi, Roushan had doned various roles including working as a journalist at Sahara Samay, an entrepreneur where he launched a website - cricstock.com ahead of 2007 ICC World Cup and has been consultant with Pi Communications and RedCube Consulting Group.
Anuj Kumar, CEO, Affle said, "With Roushan on board, Affle will strengthen its content offerings for consumers and brand solutions for advertisers. He will be the driving force of our content strategy team to create differentiated branded content solutions for consumers and advertisers in the digital space."
Last October, Affle raised over Rs 50 crore in its second round of funding from existing investor D2 Communications Inc., a joint venture between Japanese telco NTT DoCoMo Inc. and ad agency Dentsu. Till now, Affle has raised a total of $20 million in funding from various investors including a previous round of $5 million from Microsoft in 2008.
