Angry Birds Coming To Facebook On Valentine's Day
Angry Birds, the game that has caught the imagination of players around the globe for over two years is finally coming on the social networking site Facebook. The launch event is scheduled to take place in Jakarta, Indonesia on Valentine's Day (that is 14th February, 2012) and the Facebook event page has a message displayed that reads "Squawk! Everyone's favourite furious fowl, Angry Birds, is coming to Facebook! Nothing says "Happy Valentine's Day" like competitive pig-popping among friends! Join in on the fun - mark this date on your calendars, and let's make this the biggest Facebook Event ever!"
The company has laid focus on providing the players with better animation and it will also introduce new power-ups in the game (some of which can be seen in their advertisement) that can be either earned while playing or purchased by players.
Facebook has always been closely associated with digital gaming (includes CityVille, FarmVille, The Sims Social and Texas HoldEm Poker, among others) and the addition of Angry Birds will only mean more competition for the others. The game already has had more than 700 million downloads and presently there are more than 800 Facebook million users, you do the math.
The Angry Birds game was first launched on iOS devices way back in 2009 and was later made available on Android, Windows, Symbian devices. It was one of the most downloaded apps on iOS last year and was recently launched on BlackBerry Playbook. Many other games have been launched with similar names (like Angry Anna and Angry Brides), most probably to cash in on the popularity of the game.
The event page already shows that more than 57,000 people are attending the event as of now and more than 76,000 people have already been invited. Given that it's the Valentine's Day, it could well end up being 'Love Birds Vs Angry Birds'.
