Flipkart Co-founders Internet Entrepreneur Of The Year, Lukup Media Best Digital Start-up: IAMAI
Bangalore-based Lukup Media Pvt Ltd won the award for best digital start-up company or services while Flipkart co-founders Sachin and Binny Bansal were named best Internet entrepreneur of the year, in the second edition of India Digital Awards organised by industry body Internet & Mobile Association of India (IAMAI).
Lukup was set up in early 2009 by Kallol Borah who has a decade of experience in setting up and running new technology ventures in Europe and India. It has evolved to become a platform with end to end solution to create interactive content and deliver them to consumers on televisions, mobile phones and home media players.
It enables advertisers, content providers, application developers and operators deliver interactive content and applications and reach their target audience on any digital platform. It has offices in Bangalore, Mumbai and Gurgaon.
Basix Sub-K iTransactions Ltd, a mobile payments platform promoted by Vijay Mahajan's BASIX Group, won the award for best use of mobile for social and economic development. The firm had recently raised an undisclosed amount of equity investment from Michael & Susan Dell Foundation.
It provides residents of rural, urban and semi-urban areas with a mobile technology based transactional platform for access to services like banking, NREGA, utility payments, prepaid mobile pop-ups and others.
Among the other awards the co-founders of Flipkart, the country's largest e–commerce firm Flipkart, won the best Internet entrepreneur of the year while the award for best Internet professional of the year went to Shailesh Rao of Google India.
The award for best mobile governance went to Sahara Next, best local language website went to Malayalam Manorma, best news content website was Ibnlive.com, the best travel website award was bagged by Yatra.com while the award for best mobile game went to Spice Digital Ltd.
