Milagrow Launches New Tablet Aimed At Women Professionals
Gurgaon-based Milagrow Business and Knowledge Solutions has expanded its range of Tablets by launching a new Tablet aimed at women professionals that comes with a user interface (UI) designed for women. The company had earlier entered the Indian Tablet market with the launch of 'TabTop PC' which is available for Rs 25,000 and Rs 29,500, for the 16GB and the 32GB model respectively.
The new Tablet has a 7inch LED backlit capacitive multi-touchscreen widescreen HD display and runs on the Android 2.3.1 (Gingerbread) operating system. It is powered by a 1.2GHz processor and has a 1 GB DDR 3 RAM. The internal memory of the device is 8GB which is expandable up to 32GB. The Tablet has dual cameras and on the connectivity front, it has Wi-Fi (with Wi-Fi modem capability for up to 5 devices), a 3G ready module and it comes with a USB 2.0 port and a SD card slot.
Milagrow has provided a 4000mAh battery in the Tablet that the company claims will provide up to 8 hours of battery life. Additionally, the Tablet comes with more than 50 pre-loaded applications, has Flash player 11 and comes with a special security app for women. The Tablet is available in four feminine colours- powder pink, sky blue, grey and black and comes with Restriction of Hazardous Substances Directive (RoHS) certification.
"The Woman's TabTop is created for women professionals and comes preloaded with special women security and anti theft applications," said Rajeev Karwal, founder of Milagrow TabTops.
Incidentally, Karwal is a veteran of the consumer electronics industry having worked at senior positions at LG and Philips before becoming the India CEO of Electrolux Kelvinator before the company was acquired by Videocon Group. Before forming Milagrow, he had also spent time with Reliance Retail.
The new Tablet is available at a price of Rs 13,990 at most of the online retailers and offline retail stores.
Our Verdict
Although the company claims that the Tablet is for women professionals, we fail to see the connection. Yes there is a UI customized especially for women, but the company hasn't provided any details on what exactly is 'special', so we will have to get our hands on the Tablet to actually test it. Then there are the 'special' security and anti theft apps for women (again no details have been provided) and the light weight of the Tablet (it weighs only 275grams); but then show me one person (man or women) who would not prefer a lighter Tablet instead of a heavier one.
Although the different colours offered by the company will definitely attract the fairer sex. Our suggestion, skip this Tablet and instead get your hands on the 16GB BlackBerry Playbook that is cheaper than this Tablet (under an on-going offer) by almost Rs 500.
