Ra.One Genesis Mobile Game Crosses 2.5 Million Downloads
The Ra.One Genesis mobile game has crossed the 2.5 million downloads mark on the Nokia store, according to Vishal Gondal, founder & CEO of Indiagames Ltd. We could not immediately verify this number, but we take this as an official number.
The news was first tweeted on the microblogging site Twitter by Bollywood star Shahrukh Khan on 10th December, 2011, who claimed that the game has crossed the million mark. This was followed by a tweet from Gondal who mentioned that the game has crossed 2.5 million downloads.
Gondal also claimed that it is the most downloaded game on the Nokia store from India. Indiagames had earlier secured exclusive rights to develop and publish a cross-platform social game on mobile, online and TV based on the Bollywood movie Ra.One and as per the agreement, it had launched the game on social networks like Facebook and on mobile stores like Nokia, the Android market and the iTunes store. The game is an 2D action packed adventure mobile game where the user plays as 'G.One-the superhero' and has to fight his way through RA.One's army. The goal is to find and destroy Ra.One's, the villain's 'H.A.R.T'. Last we checked the game already had 20,000 Facebook likes.
Indiagames has been developing mobile games for various Bollywood movies like Wake Up Sid, Thank You, We Are Family, Tees Maar Khan, Rann, among others, but none of them has tasted the success of the Ra.One game.
Earlier, UTV Software Communications Ltd (backed by Disney) had acquired an additional 30.02 per cent stake in Indiagames for $19.28 million (Rs 94.56 crore) from founder-promoters and employee shareholders and as of now, the company holds 86.02 per cent stake in the firm.
