Yahoo! India Launches Yahoo! Video With 35 Partners
Internet giant Yahoo! India has launched 'Yahoo! Video', a video service that offers original content across multiple genres that include news, entertainment, lifestyle and movies. The service will offer high quality videos and is free of cost for all Internet users in India. Yahoo! India has currently partnered with 35 content producers including NDTV, Star TV, Shemaroo, Headlines Today, PVR Pictures and Ultra, among others.
"Online video consumption is growing at a rapid pace. Yahoo! Video redefines the online video category through licensed, original and diverse content since the Indian market lacked a safe and piracy free destination that delivers high quality and strictly original content," said Arun Tadanki Managing Director, Yahoo! India.
A recent ComScore report had disclosed that over 30 million unique users in India watch online videos each month and on average each user consumes about 58 videos a month. This basically means that with the increasing penetration of Internet in the country, the online space has the potential to become a large customer base.
Yahoo! Video's content includes short and full-length movies (movies from Shemaroo, Ultra, Reliance Pictures and PVR Pictures etc), video capsules across news (from NDTV, Headlines Today, Aajtak and Star News etc), entertainment (TV Shows from Star Plus, Star One, Channel V, Star World and 9XM etc and Bollywood from Newzstreet, Lehren, Glamsham, Saanskruti and Movie Talkies, among others), lifestyle, sports, and an archive of thousands of videos. Advertisers can also connect with their target audiences (T.A) through video and display advertising.
Yahoo! India had earlier partnered with entertainment content firm Shemaroo Entertainment Ltd for an exclusive online release of kids animation film 'Super K'. The company had also earlier launched 'Movieplex', a service that enables users to watch licensed full-length movies free of cost.
