Yahoo! India Partners Shemaroo For Exclusive Online Premier Of Kids' Animation Film

Yahoo! India has joined hands with entertainment content firm Shemaroo Entertainment Ltd for an exclusive online release of kids' animation film 'Super K'. The film premiers today on Yahoo! Movieplex, a free online movie service launched a few months ago.

'Super K', is a 3D, CGI, 95-minute-long animation movie, produced by Shemaroo. The story of the movie explores magical escapades and is a mix of action, comedy and fantasy. This movie is specifically targeted at children and will be exclusively available on Yahoo! Movieplex to all users in India for free, but with ads. It is available in both English and Hindi languages.

Jai Maroo, director of Shemaroo Entertainment Ltd, said, "An online premiere is revolutionary in the world of animation movies in India and particularly timely since children today are spending significant time on the Internet. Shemaroo has always been at the forefront of the shift to on-demand digital entertainment and we are happy to cater to this ever increasing online audience."

As per a recent I-cube report, around half a million, or five lakh Indian Internet users comprise of pre-teens, of which three out of four access the Internet 2-3 times a week. This reflects an emerging trend with children coming to the Internet extensively to consume content.

"Premiering a movie exclusively on the Internet is unprecedented in the Indian film industry," said Vishal Maheshwari, head of mobile and business development, Yahoo! Asia Pacific. According to comScore, in August 2011, Yahoo! Movies was the top movie site with 5.1 million users. Movieplex, a premium video destination, will allow users to enjoy full-length licensed movies for free through the Internet.
