Dell Expands XPS Range By Launching XPS 14z Laptop
After launching the XPS 15z laptop, Dell yesterday unveiled a new laptop called XPS 14z, the latest in a series of thin-and-powerful laptops from the company. The new laptop runs on the Windows 7 Home Premiun operating system and measures in at less than an inch (23mm).
The laptop has a 14 inch high definition (720p) WLED display screen (1366x768 pixel resolution) and it runs on Microsoft's Windows 7 Home Premium OS. Consumers can choose between a 2nd-generation Intel Core i5 and an i7 Dual Core processor and the laptop also comes with 6GB of RAM that can be expanded up to 8GB.
Graphics have been provided by NVIDIA in the form of a NVIDIA GeForce GT 520M card with 1GB graphics memory. In terms of internal storage, the user also has an option to choose between a 500GB, 750GB or a 256GB SSD drive. The device also has built-in Intel Centrino Advanced-N 6230 802.11 A/G/N and Bluetooth 3.0 wireless connectivity and comes with a USB 3.0 port, a USB 2.0 port, an HDMI port, a RJ-45 port and a Mini Display-Port.
The device has a built-in 1.3 megapixel HD Webcam with dual array digital microphones and stereo speakers and the laptop provides the user with up to 6 hours and 42 minutes of battery life with an 8-cell battery, according to the company.
The laptop has a backlit, spill-resistant Chiclet keyboard and comes with next generation Dell Stage software for fast, easy access to content like music, videos and photos. The dimensions of the device are 0.9inch (23mm) x 13.19inch (335mm) x 9.21inch (234mm) and its weight starts from 1.98 kg.
"The XPS 14z is specifically engineered to help our customers do more in their personal and professional lives," said Steve Felice, president of Dell's Consumer and Small/Medium Business group.
The XPS 14z laptop will be available from November 1 in the United States and Canada for a starting price of $999 (approx Rs 50,000) through www.Dell.com and in select retail stores nationwide. The laptop will then be launched in other countries starting November 15.
