Infibeam Opens Up Platform For Building Online Stores
E-commerce firm Infibeam.com has launched Build a Bazaar, a cloud-service for retailers and entrepreneurs interested in e-commerce.
The platform is bundled with various services such as domain name registration, store creation and design, website hosting and customer service. Infibeam will also help the initial batch of users set up their stores.
In January, Infibeam launched an infrastructure platform for retailers to set up their own online storefront. It is currently being used by NDTV Shopping, Crossword, Hidesign, Anandabazar Patrika, Kingfisher, Kolkata Knight Riders. This platform has now been tweaked to allow any merchant to set up an online store.
Buildabazaar.com will allow users to upload their own product catalogues, add products from Infibeam.com, organise merchandise, receive payments, track orders and fulfill orders from buyers directly online. The store owners will be able to run their customised online business and will be automatically included in Infibeam's Affiliate program, which means their products will be available for purchase on Infibeam.com. Owners will also be able to add any of the 10 million products offered currently on Infibeam such as books, mobile handsets, apparel and computers and accessories.
Vijay Subramanian, CIO of Infibeam.com said, "We are able to scale our technology, product and platform that support Infibeam.com to all shop owners across India using cloud services. All aspects of ecommerce are integrated in Infibeam's platform making it the single stop solution for anybody planning to sell online".
Other features of the platform include a custom library of unique merchandising widgets and a marketing and promotion engine to develop and handle innovative sales offers and schemes.
"This launch signifies our largest commitment to empower entrepreneurs including sellers as well as local shop owners by allowing them to create their own online store under their brand. Using our self service platform, every entrepreneur can setup their own branded online store with basic web knowledge, upload their own product catalog, and start selling with no upfront investment," said Vishal Mehta, CEO of Infibeam.com, in a media release.
Pricing
According to Infibeam, there will be no up-front investment for the platform, which will help facilitate adoption of e-commerce by reticent merchants.
If the merchant adds his own product catalogue and uses the services of Infibeam such as payment processing, fraud detection etc, he will have to pay between 1-5 per cent of the transaction fees depending upon the product category to Infibeam. Also there is a 3 per cent payment gateway charge.
If the merchant sells Infibeam products on his site, he will receive between 1- 1.5 percent commission from Infibeam per sale. There are two pricing plans – in the Individual Pricing plan, Infibeam pays a 1 percent commission and in the Professional Pricing Plan, Infibeam pays a 1.5% commission to the seller.
