Hungama Partners Opera Mini Browser For Mobile Multimedia

Opera Mini, the mobile browser by Opera Software ASA will now sport a speed dial to the WAP site of Hungama Digital Media Entertainment Pvt Ltd.

The two firms have collaborated so users who download the browser onto their mobiles to access the Internet will have a ready destination to download music tracks, videos, wallpapers and imagery, and ringtones.

Opera recently said that 105 million people worldwide use Opera browsers on their mobile devices. Of this, 90.4 million use the Opera Mini (a lighter version of Opera Mobile) while approximately 15 million use the full-featured Opera Mobile. Opera Mini touched a record of 100 million monthly users in March 2011. The company launched the latest version of Mini - 6 - in March with new features such as pinch-to-zoom and better control over panning and the zoom level and a share button, so that users can easily post their status messages on popular social media sites such as Facebook and Twitter.

"We have seen that in addition to search, email and social networking, Indians are increasingly logging on to download portals. It was logical for us to seek a partnership with Hungama.com, which has an impressive collection of content. Mumbai-based Hungama Digital Entertainment is an aggregator, publisher and distributor of entertainment content and games. It claims it has exclusive rights to 0.5 million music and video titles and powers nearly 70 per cent of all mobile digital entertainment content in India. Besides mobile entertainment and value added services, Hungama also has a promotional marketing entity and runs an online portal Hungama.com where it offers 4.5 lakh pieces of full length music tracks, videos, ringtones, mobile wallpapers and dialogues in Bollywood, regional, devotional and animation categories. This content is available through both subscription plans and a-la-carte rates.
