RIL Hires Ex-Star India Exec Jagdish Kumar As President- Media & Entertainment

Reliance Industries Ltd. (RIL) has appointed former Star India senior executive Jagdish Kumar as president of its media and entertainment division, Indiantelevision reports.

According to it, Kumar will form part of the leadership team for RIL's 4G business. RIL has a 95 per cent stake in Infotel Broadband Services (P) Ltd, which owns spectrum for Broadband Wireless Access (BWA) in 22 circles. Ambani said in the company's last AGM that he plans to offer 4G wireless services in the country.

Jagdish Kumar was previously employed with broadcaster Star TV, first as its Senior Vice-President(Finance) and then as its chief operating officer (COO) South operations. He quit the group earlier this month, as reported by Exchange4Media and has not been replaced.
