Eros International Digitizes Its Movie Library

Film studio Eros International Media Ltd is now digitizing and cataloguing its library of 2000 films. It is setting up a digital asset management platform in-house and has selected Prime Focus Technologies" CLEAR management platform to run the platform.

This platform will enable Eros to monetize its entire content as well as archive, preserve and manage IPR for its library.

So far, Eros has followed a "bundling model" for content exploitation that reflects portfolio strategy which allows licensing old catalogue films with new and licensing blockbusters with less successful films.

In its interim 2010 results, Eros had announced that it has seen strong performance from ad monetisation over the Internet including its DVDStore, OnDemand portal where it has brands such as Airtel, Comcast, Make My Trip, HP, ICICI, T-mobile advertising on the platform.

The Eros channel on YouTube delivers over 600 million video views each year. It also noted that an increase in the number of digital screens, especially in the single Indian screen cinemas, has reduced its distribution cost of reaching out to incremental audiences without having to invest in physical prints.

Eros has a co-distribution partnership with T-Series for some Hindi music releases. It also exploits the music videos on its own digital platforms.

Eros, which is listed on AIM, BSE and NSE, has invested in digital cinema network UFO Moviez, Valuable Group and B4UTV.com.
