ToI Launches Smartphone Apps

After its success with the iPad app launched four days ago, The Times of India has now launched apps for smart phones in order to provide regular updates from Times Network to readers.

The media house has launched apps for the iPad, iPhone, Android and Blackberry platforms so far. According to Exchange4media, the newspaper's  iPad app was the most downloaded app on iTunes' Indian app store on its launch.

The apps will offer detailed latest updates, photo galleries and videos on news, sports and entertainment. It will also feature 'Speed News' which will update users every minute with news from 80 cities. Another feature is a live cricket scorecard.

Indian daily HT Media (Hindustan Times) has a mobile app for iPhone users and its business daily Mint launched an iPad application in January.
