Inventor Of The Web In India
Sir Tim Berners-Lee is in India. Berners-Lee is credited as the 'inventor' of the World Wide Web, making the first proposal for it in 1989. But for Lee, we would still have the Internet, but not the 'www' bit that makes handshaking and sharing between computers possible. Hypertext Transfer Protocol or HTTP is what we type at the beginning of each Web URL, like say htttp://www.techcircle.in. Berners-Lee married hypertext to the Internet, paving way for the browser and Web servers. He is currently the director of the World Wide Web Consortium (W3C), and founder of the World Wide Web Foundation, among other things.
Berners-Lee is currently in India to speak at the India Today Conclave, currently going on in Delhi. He will also be among the keynote speakers in the 20th International World Wide Web Conference to be held in Hyderabad from March 28th. to April 1st.
