Smart Chip Issues 20M Smart Card DLs
Smart Chip Ltd, a Noida-based subsidiary of the $15 billion Safran Group has issued 20 million smart card based electronic drivers licenses and electronic registration certificates in India.
The Safran group delivers products and solutions for aerospace, defense and security sectors.
"From our very first implementation of this technology in Gujarat State, we have continued to invest in this sector and work together continuously with the state transport authorities to enhance the success of this e-governance initiative, which is already one of the most successful implementations of smart card technology in India," commented Sanjeev Shriya, Vice President Asia Pacific at Morpho, and Managing Director of Smart Chip.
Smart Chip offers solutions around smart cards to customers in the health and identification and banking business sectors. It employs 900 across 23 states and has delivered over 32 million smart cards till date.
